I’ve come to find great pleasure in manipulating paint on surface – exploring and playing with its unique behavior, and in turn the images it creates. Since I can remember I’ve been looking upward. As a child I would often take the time to study my surrounding Boston City landscape, particularly that of Jamaica Plain where I was raised. When I wasn’t looking up I was looking closely, fascinated with the mundane details of a windowsill or doorframe normally taken for granted or un-noticed by people I knew. In my work I purposely exaggerate color and perspective in order to force the viewer to recognize beauty in these places as well as the architecture itself.
